My first day of vacation has given me the opportunity to analyze my current situation. The conclusion of my analysis (and also the reality) is I work much harder at my full time job, yet, because of upcoming furlough days and Arizona's most recent change in withholding state taxes, I now earn less in my paycheck. A little backwards, don't you think? Well, if this isn't a wake up call, I don't know what is. I must admit, I was so glad I attended our last unit meeting for it was goal setting night. Instead of just setting a goal of directorship, I established goals at different points in the year that will lead me to my goal of directorship. I no longer fear this business. What I do fear is being stuck in a job that is consistantly hostile, and therefore must take steps to leave. We cannot allow employers to continue taking advantage of hardworking people nor allow them to continue walking all over us,AND MARY KAY IS THE KEY TO UNLOCKING THAT PRISON DOOR! I'm already following through with people who have been sitting on the fence if they want to join, and pushing through with customers for reorders and continuing to ask for referrals. This is so much simpler than dealing with the day to day nonsense at a job that doesn't care about us. Do we deal with nonsense in our businesses? Sure we do, but it's easier because we know the rewards are within reach and they are bigger than most people will ever dream of or ever receive. In the book I am reading "In A Pit With A Lion", the author says "the greatest breakthroughs in your life will happen when you push through the fear." Make the decision today to push through your fears, and watch how rewarding it will be. "Don't accumulate posssesions; accumulate experiences!"

Last Sunday, I heard words that spoke to my heart as our pastor asked all the kids who returned from church camp these questions, and their responses. We should all respond in the same manner, and carry this with us in our hearts and minds:

If I saw you on the street and I asked "What are you?", how would you respond? Answer: I am a Masterpiece.

"And who created you?" Answer: GOD.

"And what does that tell you?" Answer: GOD DON'T MAKE JUNK!

I am standing outside of my comfort zone, it is an uncomfortable feeling. I am going to do an hour of calling and promoting my business. I am trying to overcome feelings of inadequacy(what do I know about running a business??), not wanting to bother people at home on their day off, the mind numbing fear of failure and in the back of mind I hear it calling as it has everyday since I signed up for MaryKay .....my cozy little box tempting me with promises of sleeping in, all I have to do is go back in, quit MaryKay and go back to the struggle but not today!!!! I'm a different person today no time for sleeping in GOT CALLS TO MAKE!!!!! cause I'm superbad!!! yeah I said it SUPERBAD!!!!!

Well, once again, I experienced an eye opener of why I continue to stick with this business even though I am being challenged in all walks of my life right now. Those of you who know me well understand that I still work a full time job. I reached my ten year anniversary of employment on April 22nd. I elected my ten year award, something that I can use and will have many years of enjoyment with. After three weeks, and all the excuses why I had not been presented my award and ten year certificate until now, I had established an attitude of "just give me what I'm owed, so I can move on," and rightfully so. I was finally presented with my award. Here is how it took place. I was treated to a free lunch by my supervisor. His supervisor came to the lunch, which I did appreciate, for he was the one who would be presenting me the award. So, a small group from the office (all 5 of us) are at the restaurant enjoying our lunch. Did the bosses boss bring my certificate and award? Of course he did. When and how was the award presented? Not inside the restaurant, but at the truck, in the parking lot after the meal, shook my hand and said "congratulations, wish we could have made it a little nicer." And then he headed off to a meeting. When I got back to the office, I opened the box of my award to make sure all was in working order, and it was. Then I discovered inside the box what I thought to be a pamphlet of the prize I had in my hands. What it turned out to be was a card, with a nice background, with the word "Congratulations" on the front. It was blank inside, bent, a couple of small tears, and the envelope that all the materials were contained in it says on the front "Attention Managers: Open This Envelope Before Presentation." Obviously, they never looked at it.
Do all of you get the picture? I certainly do. Recognition is key in our business. IT IS ABOUT OTHERS AND HELPING THEM ACHIEVE WHATEVER THEY WISH TO ACHIEVE! Don't let anyone discourage you and intimidate you regarding anything in life. It's too short to worry about what others think when we all have the keys to open the cell doors of whatever prison is keeping us from moving forward. Ten years of dedication and hard work helping others get done what they need to get done was recognized in the parking lot of a restaurant where I work. Please do not think this about me. THIS IS ABOUT ALL THOSE WHO HAVE EXPERIENCED SUCH PATHETIC APPRECIATION AND ARE LOOKING FOR SOMETHING THAT IS MISSING IN THEIR LIVES! Have any of you ever noticed that in Mary Kay, if you are a brand new consultant, and haven't done anything yet with your business, that we cheer and hurrah for you as if you won a championship? Have any of you noticed that even if you are a seasoned, experienced consultant that may not be where you want to be in your business, we cheer and hurrah for you as if you won a championship? Have any of you ever noticed that if we haven't seen a consultant for awhile, and they show up at a meeting or another event, that we welcome them with love as if they had never missed a meeting, AND WE CHEER AND HURRAH FOR THEM AS IF THEY WON A CHAMPIONSHIP?
If you didn't have the picture before, I'm sure you have it vividly in your minds now. At this point, my "I Story" is complete, and my mission is now clearer than ever for my business. My mission is to find all of those who are searching for a new way of life, who understand business concepts, who are postive people, and who are looking for a way out of their "prison". All of us in Mary Kay have the POWER to do this, but we must do it with the passion that I am influencing on to you in this entry. The world has gone absolutley "insane", but because of the POWER that Mary Kay gives to us to help others, we can do our part to turn it around and make it a "peaceful planet". When we do that, then we can all say "MISSION ACCOMPLISHED."
In closing, I want to leave you with the words we have heard our inspiring leader, JoAnn Calvin say many times at the close of our meetings - "Now go out there and be POW-ER-FUL!"
God Bless and Good night.

Talk about letting my "I-ness" have a field day! Wow - this lesson or VISION was worth reading again and again! All this and more waiting for us not just at the Top - but all along the way! By sharing a great product line, an opportunity for others to join us, and learning to become better people ourselves. . .we are so privilged to be a part of this company! We to have a lot of wonderful work and challenges ahead of us, but great training to refer back to. I really want to make sure this dream comes true! I was listening to Tony Robbins today(6th time!) as he gave the description of successful people. They never stop learning about themselves, strive to become a better person and contribute to the better good of all. They learn to align their lives to their dreams, go the length and push through the necessary obstacles to not just "get" the prize or dream, but actually live in it.
What have I learned from this course? That my dream is alive and well - because I'm seeing other women ahead of me live it! And they are all saying Come On Girl! You can do this and have this too! There's so much room at the Top for all of us!!
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you and bless you for this awesome 21 day experience! I am a new consultant and better person for it. Amen!

I forgot the most important part, my thoughts on this course.
I must say, had I not participated, I don't think I would have pushed for the two appointments that I currently have in my books. I don't think I would have been able to identify someone having a stressful worklife, and offer some information to share that can change her life for the better. I don't think I would have developed the courage to share my experiences and perspective to my sister consultants when they ask me questions. I don't know if I would be able to have ignored the knuckleheads who continue to say we are a multilevel company (and we all know we aren't), and they speak of a true "pyramid scheme" they are considering getting into. This course, if nothing else, has given me better focus and has lifted my confidence to the next level. I learned about six months ago the reason I am in this business is to be a servant to others. This course pushed me to serve. I serve to people for their skin care needs. I serve to those who are seaking something more abundant in their lives. I serve to our directors and sister consultants when they need help or need some guidance. I serve God. Without him, I would not be here to be of service to others. This course makes me want to serve more. Sure, some of the lessons were a litte challenging, but they weren't that bad. Again, it pushed me to serve. And I will continue to serve.

Day 21 of Pace Setters! We made it! YAY! If we can make this, we can make anything! Seminar certainly is an exciting time, and although I missed the last two, my last one was sitting in the arena, and I loved every minute of it! I also remember the one time I was in Hall A seating, and on the last day of seminar, when the stage call was for all the spouses, the girls I was sitting with told me to go up there. I explained that was for the spouses, and they told me "they said all the men". So I had no choice to oblige my sister consultants, and when I explained the situation to the stage manager, they let me walk across that stage (Hall A). I must tell you that for a guy, there is nothing better than having 13,000 women screaming for you when you walk in front of them, and I hadn't even done anything spectacular in my business (but they didn't know that). So, that was my first taste of walking across any stage at Seminar. That being exciting, I do imagine how exciting it WILL be WHEN I walk across Seminar stage in the ARENA to accept my award, and this time actually have EARNED the screams from 13,000 women! There is much work to do, but it can be done! See you all on stage because I will see you all at the top!

I am glad I read this strategy earlier today - i really needed to think about it. Rereading after talking to Gerry tonight put another perspective on DIQ. I've always created mini goals or stages of goals along the way to the big goal. But what I realized tonight is that I had not put DIQ as part of my goal, just working toward the Team Leader level and somewhere down the road Directorship.
It was perfect what Janet had us do tonight - visualize our dream, which is that Red Jacket and being a Team Leader for me. Then she said go higher with your dream . . . and there for the first time was the DIQ and the Blue Jacket! Ah, the missing piece appeared!
But what I want to make sure of is that each level I climb, its with the right attitude and solid working ethics. I also want a strong foundation and a long range business plan. Well said Jo Ann - borrowing all that from you - but ruly believe!
So to answer the DIQ timing question, I'd love to walk that Seminar stage next year as a new director, so that means next March = DIQ.
What an exciting new part to add to my dream!

This assignment sure made me think. I've always set my goal for directorship, I never thought about the goal of DIQ, which will take me to directorship. As I pondered, and read this assignment over and over, I finally figured out that I have to set my goals to get to DIQ, including what I need to do to get to Team Leader, Future Director, etc. There is a goal for each one, and then DIQ taking me to directorship. MAN! I certainly can be DIQ by June 30th, 2010. I have some appointments on the books, as long as I work them right, this can be done!

Thank you for explaining that we are not responsible for the response to our career calls, just that we invite them to listen to the opportunity. And its ok that our consultants choose their own career path and longevity. It really puts the whole process into light for me and makes me not so nervous to do my part!
I love hearing how wonderful this whole plan works, I love reading the confident words in this lesson, it really puts the "why" into team building for me. I love a good challenge, especially when it forces me to work through my fears and grow. That's what its going to take to earn those pearls -and that Red Jacket within this Seminar year! You know, we are a retail operation which means we sell and collect payment for our items. And everyone knows that when they come - so if I come across as insecure, whos going to want to buy from me? I need to replay the fun we had, remind them of the wonderful products now on their faces and ask them a simple question - what would you like to get started with today? Too may sales are left on the table because these words were not asked!

I love this product line and company, now is not the time to shrivel up, especially since I just did my dog and pony show for them!

I love that there are so many ways for our customers to purchase their desired products - what other store offers what we can? And the private consultation - wow, that should make them feel special to have a 1-on-1 with us. You know, my perspective on classes/parties has been changed completely. I just can not wait for my next class/party to do these last 3 lessons!!!

This is really helpfull to me because I get so involved with my guests I forget to do the individual close. I love this script and it is worded perfectly so you dont forget anything.
The interim close is a interesting part cuz most people want to know and dont really hear any thing until they know prices so getting that out of the way is smart. Mary Kay was a brillant!!!

Closing isn't a problem for me. I've always been comfortable talking about prices because our customers already know anyone is in business to make money, but when you make it fun, it's even easier for them to support our business. They're going to buy their cosmetics from somewhere, they might as well buy them from us. The part of sharing the opportunity, I'm always sharing with my current customers and of course when I get new ones, they will hear about the opportunity. It is easier than we make it. Just Do It.

I am a dollar driven shopper, so knowing prices is very important to me and I feel it is important to share this information with my customers at all times. So this is great info. Selling sets is something I need to focus on. I am a old school girl and remember never to break sets. I will offer "sets" at all times. My adverage per face is 75.00. This is where my mini skin care class started today - in the middle! Being pressed for time and having so many eyes on us - I had to cut to the chase and get right to the skin application with little intro, and no "I" story! I wish I had read this lesson prior to, I love the idea of mentioning numbers(not $cost) and allowing to break up the sets. Its a great practice especially with short time.
I was a wee bit nervous starting with my 2 offical faces because the rest of the women just watched, listened and even took pictures of us! But then 3 viewers ordered products - wow! They told me that this was the first Jury Makeover Session they've ever had! I have a 1 booking so far and a facial.
Hmmmm, how will I approach the lawyer we're working with? . . . that would be facing an amazing giant to me - a stylish professional woman! Just like today - feel the fear and do it anyway!

Good morning all. Well, today's lesson is certainly an eye opener. I don't hold a lot of classes (yet), but I do know how to sell this product. I looked at the last six months, and I can say I have averaged $100 per month in sales, without holding classes. That is the eye opener! I should be doing more than that at EACH CLASS! But that has been my biggest challenge, getting people to book a class. I hear all the excuses (just like us consultants have used) not to hold classes. However, this will change now. I have two classes booked, and am working on others to book, and of course, I will book from the classes. I've known this for a long time, but decided that if a customer just wants to keep purchasing instead of earning products, that was fine for me. But, we leave way too much money sitting out there when we don't book classes! That is the goal, even if a customer wants to just purchase or hold just a facial, work the customer to understand how they can get free products by hosting a class! There certainly is a lot of work to be done, but it can be done!

I reviewed today's lesson slowly and put my voice into each part - need to do some tweaking and a lot of memorization! I will be cutting an glueing to note cards until I get it down to flowing naturally. Thank you - this was fantastic help today!

Obviously, I will need to change up your script a bit JoAnn, however, the basics you covered in your script are fantastic! The last class I held I was using the fipchart, and found myself not referring to it, but rattled it off the top of my head, then went back to it and said "we did this, we did that", and low and behold I had gone through the flipchart without looking at at and not missing a step! I know with the proper adjustments (I cannot say Oil Free Eye Makeup Remover is one of my favorite products, or can I?), but I can certainly run with this script, make it fun, make it exciting, and cannot wait to use it at my next class!

Coaching-I have been thinking about this very thing since CC. I kept hearing over and over to have classes/partys. So if we do not coach well the party will fall apart. I think we need to remember we want the hostess to get all the benifits of having a party. So I have coached using the new hostess xtravanza. It so much fun. Did you know there are flyers and postcards to use too? How cool. Got my guest lists so I can pre profile. I want my customers to have fun and feel good about themselves, and what a better way then with Mary Kay!!!

Since my livlihood has always depended on my appointment book I believe in the coaching with class theory. The more follow-up you do with your hostesses, the more it pays off for the sucess of the class.I love Step#8 which turns a no-show into a no problem. This has happened to me many times over the years, and these appointments turn out to be some of my most loyal customers. Anything to do with booking and coaching is much needed advice! This is where I need to learn to pour my enthusiasm out to my hostess, telling her all the fun and benefits she is going to enjoy at her party - and let her know how we are going to work together to have a terrific time!
I love the idea of offering to send the invites out for her - and/or confirming so I may profile them. I rather do it so I know it's been done!
I have only had one hostess so far, so want to learn quickly how to improve this talent!

I approached my jury duty gals today about a "Recess Facial Time"! We are scheduled to have it on Thurs. I will offer a choice of facials or hand facials to the 11 gals, and have 1 gal coming makeup free to be my model. I am bringing 1 Pinkly Bucket, a few Hostess packets and a lot of enthusiasm! I think this is going to be a great time to try out the last 2 lessons!

Yes, my appointments coming up will require some coaching, and I'm already on it. It does take a little doing, but once the customer understands the professional service we provide, they will roll with it and the next thing you know, they value us even more because we show we want to make it a pleasant experience for them. However, I do need to rethink a couple of things, based on the information provided to us in this assignment, and work these appointments to flow in the right direction. And they will flow in the right direction.

What perfect timing this lesson came to us - right after CC and as our customers were receiving their Look Books! It was fun making the check-up calls for new color appts, but I chose to focus on calling 3 gals I have been having a dickens of a time booking! In CC they said to call up to 8X, so . . . if the masters say it - you do it! It looks like I just might be seeing 2 of these gals next week. And 1 for our meeting next Monday.

I also went out and warm chattered today - I love the story of the MK gal who would go shopping to "buy & chatter" and then again to "return & chatter"! I ended up doing just that and found a neat gal working in Hobby Lobby. I gave her my card and will definitly be heading back to meet her again!(with my return - ha!)

I then came home tonight to review my warm chatter notes and see where I slipped up a bit. I need to memorize those scripts and objections!

I also went on the Create-a-look tonight and came up with 3 looks I've never tried. Dang, I looked pretty good on that screen - and even tried on a new hairdo! ah-ho Julie, here I come again!

I picked up supplies for my new Thinkin' Pinkly Buckets - because I know I'm going to need them for next weeks parties!

Sorry I missed you all tonight at the MK function - look forward to hearing all about it!

Well, I had my two appointments booked this morning. The funny thing is, one I first had her on the color cosmetics, and now we have booked for the "Canvas". I find the more I work this business, the more educated I become of how uneducated so many women are when it comes to their cosmetics and skin care. The other also has the color, and now we are moving to the "Canvas", a little step at a time. I must tell you at this point, how confident both these women have already become in our products, that they are wanting more! And a third customer finally realized that our powder foundation works better with our liquid foundation than it does with someone elses foundation. She knows now that our products are formulated to work together, and therefore needs the one she bought last year and returned, back again! Sometimes this business has twists and turns, but amazing how it turned right back to us! That speaks volumes about our products!
Landing the two appointments prompted me to keep going, calling existing customers as well as new contacts to book the first appointments, and that is when I got the call back on the foundation. She wants it and knows ours is the best!
YAY MARY KAY!

You may already know my "I" story, being a server at the Directors conference last year. I like to think back on that night, especially when I sit and reflect on where I was and where I am now. That one night changed my life, it was an answer to prayer.I was teaching full time and working weekends as a server for a temp agency. I had been searching for a career and a change in life style at the same time. I wanted a position that I had autonomy and yet team work with like-women as well. I wanted friendships, celebrations and rewards for work well done. I wanted to grow as a person and grow older with security about my future. And I wanted to be a blessing to others. Amazing, while serving the courses of meals and listening to the speeches and watching the interactions between these women in the room and the FUN they were having . . . I saw a life I desired, and I very much wanted to be a part of it! It must have shown on my face, because they invited me in!
This first year has been the most incredible year of personal growth, including becoming a better business woman, finding new friendships, gaining confidence and having a whole lot of fun!
I am working my way to be become a team leader by choosing sharp women I would like to work with, earning fabulous prizes and recognition for my efforts, and also earn my first car prayerfully by this year!
Now tell me ladies, how many opportunities do you know that could offer this much to you - oh, And give you all the training you need, while earning an income?!
I want you to watch me today ladies and ask yourself, why can't I do this too? Why can't I also create the life I really want to enjoy, and at my own pace?
We'll talk more about this after we have a little fun together today. So, be thinking of some questions you'd like to ask. I'd love to answer them during our individual time together at the end of our class! Are you ready to have some fun now?

Pacesetter#13 My I-Story began when I was invited to a mother daughter MK party at my fabulous friends house Maryann.I watched carefully as my daughter tried the Velocity products, followed by the eyesicles and lipgloss. I had been looking for quite some time for a business to add more income to my salon business.I also wanted a business to pass on to my daughter someday. All the women were having a blast and the products were really nice quality and beautiful colors! We were struggling financialy and my kids activities were getting more expensive.Maryanns director Sandy Griffith spoke about the prizes and free car program you can qualify for when you become a consultant. So far my reasearch had not found any other business that paid a fifty percent commission on sales.I was afraid to get excited, but wanted more information. So I attented a unit meeting and foundthe power and passion of all the women extremely contagious. The self-esteem and confidence I receive from the weekly meetings is incredible.Who would not want to be part of that! You can advance at your own pace and you can promote yourself anytime you choose! My growth and pay all depends on my performance with my business, how great is that!Come join the fun.

I've known JoAnn for ten years now. I remember when she said I should consider this opportunity. Now remember, this is a time when JoAnn would recruit you if you were walking and breathing, and for no other reason! No thank you was my response. She mentioned it again a few months later, and my response was "NO"! Two years later, I gave it some consideration, after watching how she worked this business for those two years. I went to an event, with serious estrogen bouncing off the walls at this meeting, I felt my testosterone threatened!

However, I had time the next night at my then part time job, to mull over everthing the directors were working to convey to the huge group of people. It took awhile, and then I decided, why not. It can't hurt to give it a try. And here I am, eight years later, after achieving Star Recruiter (Red Jacket) twice, and working to get back in it. Yes, it has been challenging for a guy like me. But after eight years of learning (yes, that is what this last eight years in this business has been, learning), I have found that the challenges are no more different for me than they are for all of you ladies.

I have been blessed by this business, as I see the sad sight everyday at my full time job, the people who say they love their jobs, but they come in, walking like E-Or, slowly, with their head down and looking at their feet. They say good morning, but their smile is very faint. That's when I know I have made the right decision to step out of my comfort zone. Yes, right now, I'm still at my full time job, but I make the best of it. My job there now, if nothing else, is to be enthusiastic for those hanging their head down, and smiling big, and asking how are they today AND MEAN IT! My job also is to connect the general public to the right people when they have concerns to be addressed, and I do it with happiness, because that is how I am supposed to be while serving others. I certainly did not learn to be this way from my full time job. This is the Mary Kay spirit that I have been taught for eight years.

If you haven't gotten it yet, hang in there. You'll know when you have gotten hold of it. You'll feel it. You'll see these same kind of people, and that is when you will make the decision, do I want to be like that! Most of us will answer no, and that is when we will step it up, because we know there is more to life than that! That is when we will realize what a great opportunity we have in our hands! That is when we make the decision to work for us and our families! That is when we share what we are experiencing with others who want more and are looking for something to give them more from life! Yes, it is challenging. Yes, no one says it is easy. But, it isn't that difficult either.

I wanted something more out of life, and I want everything this life can give me! There are people who get into other direct selling businesses, and the company structure makes no sense to me. And ours doesn't make any sense to them, because we are so professional. We are not the "go to the Ostrich Festival" and set up a booth and sell products (against company policy, just to remind you). We are the ones who have pressed suits and spit polished shoes that come to the customer, and ensure what they are trying and what they are purchasing is right for their needs! If anyone is going to step into a home based business, this is the one, Mary Kay! It's this true business image that attracted me the most (well, O.k. maybe it was second to all you beautiful women I would get to work with) to this business. It's simple. We buy from the company, we sell to our customers, we make 50%. Done! Other companies will razzle dazzle you with you sell this much, and the company gives you back this much and you find you're head has spun 360 degrees a hundred times and what do you end up with? 25% if you're lucky, and exhaustion because you worked in the warm sun, setting up tables and shade, and investing $200 just so you can be in that spot at whatever festival you may have gone to. Do you make money? Sure you do. But not as much as Mary Kay consultants, and we go from air conditioned cars into someone's air conditioned home, and they feed us! Yes, Mary Kay is the right opportunity! Even for this most masculine guy!

Love you all!

I mean, how am I going to face Jo Ann and you all if I know I am not trying my absolute best in accomplishing this goal? Just 2 people a week! My plan:stop thinking about it - and just do it!Ask everyone with a smile (*o*)

And if you didn't know my phone buddy's name - it Kitty . . .here Kitty, Kitty, Kitty lets curl up and do a little calling together . . purrrrrfect!

I started to aim very high with my yearly customer goal (after all, I was Air Force)and had to really think about that. We don't want to set our goal so that it is out of reach, but then, nothing is out of reach in our business. However, two new customers per week is very achievable, so that is my aim. It will take commitment, and it will take dedication, and of course, consistancy.

Was anyone inpired watching Jo Ann tonight? I wanted to sign up all over again! Which leads right into the customer service topic - it starts at the moment we meet our potential customer. They should get the assurance of a great consultant and a product from the get-go. Then when we do earn their business, calling can be the joy part, it gives them a chance to talk about themselves, give clues to what they may be needing next and they thank you for caring! I am sorry that I did not realize this very early on, my customer base would have been a lot larger by now.
Tonight picking up Taco Bell on the way, I met a very nice young lady with lime green eye shadow at the check out window. I complimented her and she asked if I would call the 800 number and let them know how she served me tonight. Absolutely I will - and I'll be by tomorrow to talk to you about a great product to match those lime green eyes of yours Ashley!

Customer Service is a very important tool. I feel it is very important. It is the reason our customers keep shopping with us. Made all my calls today and journaled about great service I received with UPS. They thanked me calling, the operator said" to whom do I have the pleasure speaking with today." It was a realy nice feeling. I love this excercise.

Amazing! When this assignement came, I was already following up with a brand new customer in person! We both agreed we had the right foundation shade, and we are still working with another product to see how it works for her. I assured her I will take care of her if she is unhappy with the other product. This also opened the door to educate her why she needs cleanser and moisturizer. I made more calls when I got home, left voice messages to see if everything was working fine with them, and if they needed a reorder or had any questions to call back. As far as I am concerned, taking care of customers needs is easy. We already have them as customers, so they do expect you to call them once in awhile to ensure their happiness with our products.

One of my most recent great customer service experiences was shopping for new flooring for my living room .I was collecting estimates ,saw an ad on t.v. called them and made an appointment. This company called and confirmed, then called when the technican was behind only 15 minutes, brought me a silly gift ,carried samples of everything I inquired about, offered a cash discount if I signed on that day, also offered to meet any lower prices I had received if they were written estimates and also promised to be true about warranty work if needed. When I could not sign on the dotted line that day, they called me the following day to find out why.Very impressive customer service deptartment, but the price was $2,000 more than any other estimate! Their reputation in the valley for service, is what brought them business not their prices. It was a interesting experience to witness. In this case communication with the customer was their success.

Dream? I was born a dreamer! It's no accident that I went into the arts for my vocation! I've had a lot of new dreams lately, ones of freedom and building a life full of new adventures and going to new places and meeting new people. I crave new experiences in my life always, sameness bores me - which gets me into trouble. My list was easy to write from the little dreams like meeting new potential teammates and customers, to the big ones like traveling abroad. What difference will they make? Contagious Joy in my life - enought to share with my husband, family and anyone I come in contact with. And I do know the only dreams come true are the ones you plant in your heart and mind. I need to put myself into that list and visually see myself accomplishing each one. Time to go to bed and dream big!

Dream. I sure know how to do that! My biggest dream now is to own one of the huge ranches around the area between Divide and Eleven Mile Canyon in Colorado. I used to go fishing that way when I lived in Colorado Springs, and all I could imagine is owning one of those big pieces of land with such a beautiful ranch house on it, with horse stables (and horses in the stables) and the original buildings and property line fences from the 1890s still standing on the property. I can have my garage with my American classic muscle car collection, my Jeep, my 4x4 truck, my dirt bike, my fishing boat, and a seperate garage specifically built for my Cadillac (you all know which one). This is the place I used find piece of mind, and my batteries would be so fully charged even after a day trip to such a beautiful, scenic area. I couldn't wait for another weekend fishing trip, if nothing else, just to see those ranches so I can pretend it was mine. I long for the Colorado Rockies again. I used to dream of living there when I was in the Air Force, and the dream did come true after 4 years of trying. I can certainly do it again, and live right! That's what I dream of! My family will be with me, I will have grandkids come to the ranch and ride the horses anytime they want, and we will venture out and explore the range, looking for gold, digging up old pill and medicine bottles from the cowboy days (yes, you can find them all over the place). I will saddle up the horses and ride side by side with my lady, and just take in the fresh air and the scenery. We can drive up Pikes Peak and when we look at the grit that blew all over the truck, you can see traces of gold dust in it! And when we need some city life, Colorado Springs, one of the most beautiful spots I have ever lived in, is only 40 miles away. There is a red rock park (similar to what you see in Sedona, only a much smaller spot), it's called Garden of the Gods. Rock climbers go there, hikers, people driving the dirt roads to venture further into the mountains. If I have captured your curiosity, Google it, and you'll see why I dream of such a place. I can have it again! And all of you can have what ever it is you dream of having!

I was fortunate enough to invest in a good amount of inventory when I signed up last year and have done a good job at keeping it stocked. Its the continuity of sales that is my issue. And I still need to learn how much to buy, especially the limited edition items.

I took my "before" picture when I came home from a day of Jury Duty - ok, I admit it, a little worn looking! Tomorrow morning I will take my "after" picture dressed for work and an interview. Looking sharp is my plan!

As far as products I use, other than shampoo and nail polish - I am 100% a MK Girl. Just loving the body products I keep adding to my regiment each month - Wow, can I see and feel the difference! I keep the perfume sampler box on my dresser and switch fragrances everyday. Perfume has always been my personal fetish. I can not wait to try the new products coming out - Mon night sampling was such a teaser!

I used to think I had to keep every piece of inventory for our customers - thanks for the permission to indulge!!

Well, the personal use sheet isn't formatted for the men, so I will share what I use in this posting. Currently, I do use the MK Men regime (cleansing bar, shave cream, after shave gel, and the moisturizer). This set does work best for my skin, and a co-worker complimented how good my skin looks. I also use the Soothing Eye Gel (one of my favorite products), and for the last three to four months, I have been using the lip protector. I used it here and there for a few years, but found it works best for my kissable lips ;)so I use it regularly now. Right now, my fragrance is High Intensity, and I do get many compliments on it and that opens up the conversation about the product. I also use Satin Hands. I currently am paving small areas on my patio, and work in the garden a lot during the warmer months, so my hands get a little rough. So with regular use, the product does work its magic, and I can attest, that women do love a man's strong hands, but they don't have to be rough and callised. Hence, why we must use our products to be able to sell our products. We are a walking adverstisement for our business when we wear our products.

My favorite business attire is my dark pinstripe suit with a white shirt. I love to mix and match the ties, so the outfit looks different everytime, but always professional. Although I work in a casual environment at my job, I do my best to look my best even on days I wear jeans. With jeans, I'll put on a white dress shirt and either casual dress shoes or polished up cowboy boots.

Inventory? Yes, I have learned the same hard lessons (and still do sometimes) about having too much and too little. Most of my customers understand if I have to order it in, but I do my best to get it to them as soon as possible, and they are still very appreciative. There are ways to keep their interest while they are waiting for their products. Calling them to keep them posted on the status of their order is one of those ways, so they don't think you forgot about them.

I like that I get comments about how nice I dress for such a messy job! I feel like I have to for my self esteem and gain respect from the kids. They also like that I were pretty things and interesting jewelry - and the kids notice!

I totally agree with the articles - we are our own best marketing tool, wherever we go. So, it's important to have our best face on, even in casual clothes. I am projecting what I desire to bring to myself in both friendships and business. Mary Kay can take all the credit for my skin and makeup - never felt confident in this area until this year! It's nice feeling well put together when I leave in the morning, I know I do get tired with my long days, bt hopefully my face doesn't show it!

I am amazed at how this company is just as concerned about how we grow in our personal life as in our professional life. Thank you Mary Kay for your incredible insight and daily example! I just know my 50th year year is going to be a fabulous year!

Todays assignment is a good one. I grew up in the Dallas and Dynasty days (remember those tv shows?) big hair, perfect make up, glamor outfit. I remember re-doing my hair before I could go to school or going out with friends if it didn't turn out just right. It was and is very important to me to always look my best. It can be frustrating now because we have become so casual. My "job" is a casual environment but the Mary Kay in me always has full make up and hair done. It is easier talking Mary Kay when you wear it. Just had my hair cut and colored. It looks great. One of my favorite outfits is my new purple top and dark slacks. I got a new look to try in the morning. My moral of the story is when I look good I feel good.

I have never doubted that a professional image will gain a person success than any casual or "lazy" look. I remember as a recruiter for a telemarketing company, that I could not conduct on the spot interviews when the "younger" crowd came in as if going to the beach. The serious ones returned looking like attorneys! I work in an environment where it is casual for the most part, but does depend on what you do. Now that I am the first person people make contact with at my job, I know how important it is to have a professional image. This is detrimental since the word is getting around that I am building my Mary Kay business, so I have to be on my best behavior at all times and look my best, even on days I dress down a bit, I still make it as sharp as possible. Its so simple to do! I'm luckier than the ladies in this department, since men's fashions don't change as fast and as much as women's fashions. I still have sport jackets in my closet I bought about 10 years ago that are still in style. That's why it's key to buy quality items, they are always ahead of the current trends.
I just listened to my buisness voice mail. I believe it is very good, however, there are couple of things I will tweek to make it sound even more exciting to do business with me. That's the ticket!
I love the article about language, and the part about what we can and cannot say when working with our clients. We certainly do not want to give misleading information. We want the people we come in contact with to take us seriously, so we have to take our businesses seriously.

Women love a quick fix to feel better about themselves, and what better than a new lipstick or spring blush to fit the need! Image of how your look is seen by others could make or break your sales.I have always told my customers ,hair is a renewable resource so dont be afraid to try something new!Thankyou on the article about Language, it has made me think about how professional I sound to others.

I know I keep saying this - but this lesson is excellent and timely! Especially when I truly know it's time to move away from prospecting family, friends and co-workers - letm' go!
I am going to begin prospecting in the gym, my new work hub and at jury duty since I am going to be with the same 23 ladies for the next 4 months! There's also the court clerks and officers during my breaks. I also spent some time on the web learning how to launch a successful web party - I'd like to approach my shyer customers and new prospects into trying.
With the new catalogue and pretty new colors coming out - might be fun to do the girlfriend club, like buy 2 lipsticks get one free or 3 eye shadows, get the 4th for free. I need to ask someone their experience first though. i don't want to start another gimic.

I'd like to tatoo the 6 Powerful Prospecting Tips to my forehead! Man, those are some simple but unbelieveably true suggestions! Husband totally agreed!

Thanks again for this training - been a great eye-opener, again and again!

Referals is the name of the game. I know we all need to use the back of our profile card and call those names we got. However the ideas are great. I made the smile back stickers and put them on the back of my business cards. Can jaz them up with a eye color sample and a candy in a little celo bag. Easter is around the corner and on year I passed out plastic eggs with samples/candy in them sealed them with my reorder labels. It is fun giving something to someone just because. Must get a name and number to follow up with. I have to confess the other night I fell asleep before I finished the cd about closing but did listen to it today and it is great. Need to close the sale and be excited for her.

What a meaty lesson tonight, something to review constantly for me since I take things way too personally. I need to re-oil my duck feathers and get on with my amazing business of growth.
The point I keep going back to is that we need to see our talents and skills as variable. They are changeable and they grow with patience, training, mentoring and education. That is precisely how to deal with our fears, it just make some take time and practice! Decide to take take action and seek support when we, I, feel self condemnation.
We need to stop being so brutal with ourselves!
Thank you Amy for your inspiration tonight - my reason for being there tonight:)

Joyce Meyer is easy for me to relate to. This one is the most helpful. I have her book "A New Day A New You" It is great. I have a couple fears, the word "no" is a biggie, not meeting expectations of others, sucess.
I think I can over come them by knowing my business in and out. It will help my confidence, which will help my fear.
I booked a facial this week. With our training tonight I want to offer her the Hostess extranvanza program.

In the article "Fear of Failure and How to Overcome It" the steps that caught my attention are Do Things Differently and Don't Take Failure Personnally. I've tried many different ideas at producing business and a lot of them didn't work for me. However, had I not tried the other ideas that have been passed on to us, I don't believe I would have gone back to the basics the company has laid out for us and just thrown in the towel. The failure of the other plans I tried forced me to go back to the basics, and I realized how simple the company plan is and that is where I get the majority of my success.

I've also learned not to take failure personnally. In my "job", so many take failure personnally, but I now see every failure as a training and learning opportunity. I'm not perfect, but I can perfect the taskings of my business, and not be afraid to make mistakes, because if we don't make mistakes, how will we become even greater in our growth? This takes heart in the article Overcoming Fear of Success, in step 6. See your skills as changeable. People who think their capabilities are fixed get disoriented when they succeed, and their performance then spirals downward. Always view your skills as changeable.

My favorite article is Fear of Failure & How to overcome it.I really enjoyed the eight steps and related to each and every one of them. The best advice and key words of #8 is learn from the mistakes you make so you dont repeat them! After reading ALL the different articles its amazing how fear immobilizes people from daily tasks.Satin just waiting to act on those fears we all have.I enjoyed Joyce Meyers article when she said'fear torments and god wants to deliver you from all your fears.
The model I brought last month to a meeting is coming over for a skin consult tomorrow .

I learned a lot from color coding our contact list. You know when you really disect your list you can find a lot of hidden potential -I found something to offer everyone on my list. Even the "no's" deserve a hello note or email sale every once in a while. You just never know which name is going to become a customer or team member - so, not to give up on anyone right!?

I would love to book 2 parties a week, or 1 party and 2 facials a week and offer the business to every face.

Today I listened to a fantastic phone recording by Roya Mattis on booking interviews - which begins by asking a simple question at your classes or facials. It was really encouraging and made so much sense! Its like the 15 min segments on the Power Hour - a great system that is very doable and productive. Thank goodness for scripts - I need them all!

I want to hold 2 appts a week, min of 4/6 faces a week. I have a potential recrute scheduled to do her first skin care class at the mesa training training center next sat. Her sister wants information too. Power hour was amaizing, I love checking on my customers. The scripts are great. They help me when I get nervous talking about booking. I tend to over talk them. Well, I got at least one pending sale for next week after calling for an hour (need to call earlier on Saturdays. Mostly voice mails on a Saturday evening, lesson learned). But a sale is a sale. I have another sale at the end of next week by talking with a co-worker at the new digs. I have a potential recruit, and have a new contact from yesterday who will be joining us Monday evening. I'm working to get others she knows to join us. Worked from my six most important things to do list, have one more on the list to check off. And I saw Eunice at the thrift store today. Good seeing you Eunice. Have fun with the sport of golf. I know you'll love it!

My weekly plan sheet must be very flexible because I have worked by appointment out of the salon in my home for 17 sucessful years.I'm adding my MaryKay business to my already existing
clientele while building new customers. Some challenges for me are knowing the timing of introducing a skin care product while doing their hair and allowing plenty of time to show them more! Which brings me to a perfect opportunity to book a facial or color appointment.
Six most important things:
1.Love what you do!
2.Stay motivated,don't give up
3.Be prepared,know your product
4.Be sincere and honest
5.Don't be afraid to ask for help
6.Make time for yourself
Joann Thankyou for all the information and resources,I'm soaking it up like a sponge!

I love this lesson and dread it at the same time! It makes me face my fears and downfalls in anything I attempt to do, which is "doing" without a plan and trying to work that plan in a whenever, whatever fashion! This time I sat down with my husband and truly looked at my schedule and found great days and times to work my business. We talked about how to get me more organized by emplimenting systems for everything, but don't wait to work my business - plan while I work! This is a new venture takes that time and mistakes to know what works best for me and how. It really helps to brainstorm with someone!

Six most important things - I so want this to be my daily habit for work and personal life! And teach my kids now.

Articles where great - timing was a God thing! I so needed to hear the "why's" of procrastination and some "how-tos" to break through!

Ok, I started the pacesetters last month and didn't finish so I get a "do over". How lucky am I. But we all get a "do over" every day. We can go about are daily activities and try new things, talk to new people, make new plans, or we can do the same thing over and over. I must say I love the weekly plan sheets it make me feel very organized and I get more things done. I am good at completeing tasks. The six most important things is crutical too. Sometimes I do it a couple days at a time so I dont forget anything.
I used to think the 6 most important things was only Mary Kay related and would get frustrated when other things were forgotten. So some days I have more than 6. Have a guest scheduled for the meeting on Monday. It is Peggy from a couple weeks ago. She was planning to sign her agreement so I am so excited for her.
Geting ready to curl up with my journal and Mary Kay Ash's Book.

On a day where I was feeling overwhelemed, I did tell myself I can get through it and I did. I felt a huge sense of accomplishment because once I did jump into the days taskings, they were done in no time. I have a new customer, and I took some time for me after I got home from my "job", and went to McDonald's for dinner, and it was a good thing I did. I made a new contact and she will be coming to the unit meeting to get pampered.
As far as my home office is concered, I did "declutter" about two months ago, although there is still some things left to organize. It is workable now, but will be even better when I get the rest of it situated (I still don't have a filing cabinet). However, I certainly do not feel the "overwhelm" the way I used to.
I've always used my dayplanner as my weekly plan sheet, but it certainly doesn't break down the things I need to schedule. Instead of "winging it" like I have been, I will schedule an appointment with myself for the "me" time, and treat the appointment as if I was meeting a client. Shut off the phones, no t.v. no music. I find early Saturday mornings are perfect to schedule this one.
Right now I am working on my Six Most Important Things List so I will be able to use my time wisely tomorrow. Of course, we all know one of those things will be the next assignment. We have nothing to loose by implementing these things and see how they will work for us. The more organized and efficient, the better!

My favorite thing about being a hostess was having everything already on the table looking pretty and very inviting. I like to use a theme, it shows I care and am ready to have some fun with my guests! (Learning to down-play the food and keep it simple!)

Jo Ann gave me some great advise on putting together a great hostess plan a few weeks ago, she said if your Hostess plan excites you, then you're going to be excited to share it with others! So what excites me? Details, energy and receiving something free right-off-the-bat! ahhh, why not the pink bucket idea!
So here it is:
1.I am going to offer my pretty pink bucketright away as a thank you for setting the date,
2. A free eye shadow or something small for keeping the original date
3.$99 for $33 for having a min of 4 confirmed guests (must show up)or $75 for $35 if less
4. A pink shopping bag for hostess to show guests what she is going to fill it with from her party
4. A garantee that the Hostess is going to feel special on her day and guests well taken care of

My hostess packet has a catalogue, profile card, receipt, ponder pink sheet, hostess brochure and company literature inspiring questions during the party

A great party starts with me and my attitude and energy I bring to the table (*o*)

My three most favorite things about a hostess are 1. Organization - if a hostess is organized the party flows so much nicer. With my coaching and help I want the party to be fun!
2.Attitude-positive attitude for having fun and stepping out of her box to try new things!
3.Graciousness-making people feel comfortable no matter what arises!
For my Hostess plan I like the free product spree where the hostess receives a percentage of party sales in free product because I think its adjustable as you see how the sales are going. It also promotes the hostess to work a little harder towards her goal which is Free products!
I always have a raffle and prizes and a extra incentive product for the hostess to reach her goal.
For my hostess packet I include hostess brochure,
sales tickets, invitation Look books, customer profiles in something fun to get the party started! And I include a looking forward to the event note!

I made my calls tonight using the reorder script and had 2 reorders - gee, imagine that, just from a friendly call!

Have it with the notebook too. Made 6 calls today at lunch. Left messages letting them know if they call me back in 24 hrs they will get $15 off their order.
Sent a few emails too- One of my potential customers called me back tonight and booked an facial. I have learned not to get too comfortable after a sucessful week if you haven't replaced those appointments to keep me working.
Going to journal and get to bed.

#1 I am truly grateful for finding a family that is interested in your success. After reading Zig Zaglars Check up from the neck up, I realized that the only way you are going to be successful is to SPEAK LIFE within oneself. I love when Joanne tells us to speak positive and get the negativity off of your lips. I Know that all things work together for the good to those who love GOD. I am reading my bible as an uplift/motivator. I always quote this Scripture before I start my day, John 15:7 If ye abide in me, and my WORD abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will and it shall be don unto you. Now if JESUS said it then it is SO, GOD is not a man that HE shall LIE. This scripture allow me to understand and embrace that fact that SPEAKING life on things that APEAR DEAD, means that just like LAZARUS you shall RISE from the DEAD by HIS command. In other words, RISE!!!! SLEEP no longer and COME FORTH and LIVE. Its all about the REACTION before the ACTION! Meaning, depending on how you decide to REACT to your situation, GOD can only ACT on your behalf depending on how long YOU decide to hang within your misery and/or sorrow. TRUST and KNOW that just like in RAIN on YOUR PARADE, NO WEAPONS FORMED SHALL PROSPER!!! Being Highly motivated, Truly dedicated, and Extremely successful prompt me to say, If GOD is for ME who can be AGAINST ME. We can be our own worst enemy when we dont think enough of ourselves to say, I am GREAT and I am very SUCCESSFUL! Stop standing in the way of yourself and take the first steps of not making it about you and think about our clients who are benefiting from all of your hard work and efforts that are put in to make it ALL ABOUT THEM! FAITH WITHOUT WORKS IS DEAD!!!!!

I love the Zig Ziglars excercise. It helps me to really focus on the areas I can improve. I posed my sign at my desk at work and gave one to my daughter. I had a phone interview tonight. Have to admit I was a little nervous. Afraid I may of scared her off by giving so much information. But stayed positive the entire conversation. I just put the "Art of the close" by Kathy Helou on and will listen while finishing up the dishes. Day 1 down 20 to go!!

Now isn't this assignment interesting after the Red Jacket Huddle? My attitude had a little talking to and I decided to see & hear the truth! I am still wearing my rubberband jewelry and snapping it less, but even harder now. The attitude battle has always starts in our heads - the same place where Champions always begin their journey. Gotta decide which path to follow - I'll take the Champion route if you please, going the extra mile this time!

Zi'g Zigler's list puts it in plain sight - what am I doing and not doing? And what's gotta change to create the champion I know I can be.

I am listening to Tony Robbins Personal Power series - absolutely awesome and powerful!

I am reading "If How To's Worked We would all Be Skinny, Rich and Famous" A very interesting book on human characterists and misconceptions.

My Bible - God's word to start my day!

Thanks for the encouragement last Pacesetter group! We love you for being here for us!

Attitude is everything! As I continue to incorporate more positive thinking in a not so positive atmosphere, I notice, per the article in our Strategy 1 assignment, that my attitude is inviting positive results. So much that now, I don't think twice about talking to a sharp person with a positive image about our fantastic opportunity. I've known the rules of the game for a long time, and I am willing to play better than I have in past years. We have champion mentors all around us, there is no reason for us not to become champions in this company. One article I read in Entrepreneur that I have been wanting to share is "How To Be Great". How do we become great? It always starts at the top. Great companies are about creating relationships with their employees (in our case,it's about creating relationships with our customers and our team members). It is also about creating trust with our customers. "When you walk through the doors of a great company, you know it instinctively. There's an energy, a buzz and a distinct character that conveys confidence, curiosity, uniqueness and trust. It flows from the CEO to the receptionist and into the customer base."
Mary Kay was ahead of her time. When you make the comparison, isn't that what we have in Mary Kay? The minute we walk through the doors of any of our events, from our unit meetings all the way up to Seminar, there is an energy that is indescribable.
After completing the Zig Ziglar exercise, I am glad to see that I did not mark any categories "Never/No." I vow to improve the areas I marked as "Sometimes" into "Oftens", and turn the "Oftens" into "Always."Attitude is certainly everything.

I didn't print it out and glue it into my flipchart because I already have stuff in there by Allison Lamarr. But, I'll definitely be printing it out ad bringing it for notes. I also liked her emphasis on keeping things simple and not worrying too much about listing all of the ingredients because that part always makes me nervous too. I think most women are there just too have fun and look and feel better. So, for those few technical guests we encounter, there's always Product Central!

Day #16-Well ladies, I am out by default. Yesterday, I had worked on the assignment, but forgot to post the results. I woke up this morning and realized that not only didn't I post my results I also went to bed without setting my alarm.

I printed off the opening and was practice saying it outloud and trying to get comfortable with it.

Here is where I was struggling. Before starting the PACE SETTERS class I had printed off the script from Alisson LaMarr. I also pulled out her script and was comparing the two and knew I had to make a decision about which one to use.

I know that both of these scripts are worked for very sucessful Mary Kay women. I just wanted to use the one that I was most comfortable with.

I liked them both, but some of the wording was very uncomfortable. I know it is very important to use a script and I wanted to use one, but was struggling with which one to use. It had gotten pretty late and I could not decide which one to use. I was planning to clip the one I decided to use and put it in the flip chart.

There was a lot of distractions from my children, I was very tired, and not even thinking went to bed without making the final decision or posting my assigment.

Thank you Jo Ann for this PACE SETTERS class, it has so challenged my mediocre thinking and understanding. Thank you for repeating over and over again to us the important of using a script and memorizing the script. This training is priceless and I think every consultant should go through it.

I liked reading over the SCC script and working on how to lead a SCC. It's so easy to get overwhelmed with all the many scripts and ideas on running a SCC. But once you master one script and make it your own, I know that definately will help the "stage fright" that I get before teaching a SCC. I'll be working on it!

I've been coaching my 2 hostesses for this weekend. I really liked the chapter and I think it's funny that we're reading it because my coworkers were making fun about how I never dress down for work...even on Fridays! I firmly believe in dressing as best you can every single day. Especially in our business where we can meet potential clients any and everywhere.

Day #15-I wasn't able to coach a hostess today. I currently have only 1 double facial on the books and wasn't able to speak with her because she was at work until 9:00 p.m. this evening. I will call her tomorrow morning before she goes to work.

I wrote in my journal and was beginning to become encouraged because the plan is finally coming together in my head. I wrote some more about how I want my business to be structured.

Day#14-Most of the time I book my second color appt. I don't always work it the same way as you, but I like your approach. It is simply. My last class my hostess did not want a second appt. but two of the women in the class do. I just have not been able to get it on the books because they are both busy. I will contact them to schedule tomorrow. It was too late tonight.

My last appt. is already scheduled for her second appointment. She wants to buy the roll-up bag but wanted to wait for color. She also wants her grand daughter to join us. So, I will do her color and basic skin care on her grand daughter who is 21.

I went to MaryKayInTouch and printed the three color looks for myself. My 14 year old daughter joined me as I was trying the new looks. I absolutely love your entire approach to color appointments and offering them the three different looks. It really simplifies everything. Also, allowing them to work through the directions will give them the confidence to do it themselves.

I like the different looks so much, I want all three. I believe the dramatic look was my favorite. It is 11:24 p.m. and I don't want to wash my face. :) I will wear this look for church tomorrow.

My daughter took pictures of me with all three looks so I could see the difference. I never like to spend much time putting my make-up on, but I see the difference. I told my husband, if I want to step things up in my business, I will need to spend more time on my make-up. After all I am a walking advertisement for Mary Kay Cosmetics.

My application suggested that I contour my cheeks with a bronzer. I couldn't find out how to do that on MK so I went to the web to find out how to do it. It is very effective.

Thank you for helping me get out of my box. This has been fun.

So I called my friend Chanell who I facialed last year who has been saying she wants more product. So we scheduled an appointment. I also rescheduled my friend Arabah for her second appointment! I tried a look today and wore it when I met with friends for lunch and they really liked it! Oh and this morning I went to breakfast by myself and brought a book with me and enjoyed some alone time! I'm officially an eagle! (Those that went to Steppin Up would understand this:))

My I story changed from "sounding good" to being the truthful inspiration! Instead of looking for affirmation for my journey from the past, I am asking them to think about themselves, to start creating their own picture and ask themselves "So, What's my story? Aren't I ready for a life change too? and What's stopping me from asking more about this opportunity?" Creative visualization - isn't that the point to our stories? It's time to not just tell where I've been - but the excitment of where I am going!
And paint my picture that has plenty of room to include you too!!

Sort of like our mission statement isn't it? I ask that the Lord bless each of our missions in touching other womens lives with love and grace.

I too have felt like what do I really have to share in my I story that is so impressive. As I wrote it out though, people can relate to someone who works a job, has a family and wants more in their life. So, I have a different attitude about my I story. Nuts and bolts of my I story - work a full time job, wife and mom who has found her real desire is to work from home and not be the crazy lady juggling too many things. While working my MK business I can earn extra money for our family on my time schedule and earn great prizes, grow personally and as a business woman. There is HOPE in this company.

As I wrote out my I-story, I kept thinking about why I've been shy about telling it all these years. Thinking about it, I noticed that, in my mind, I kept saying that it wasn't as motivating or exciting as other people's I-stories.

But after writing it all down, I thought about it and decided that it shouldn't have to sound like anyone else's. In the end, it is my story and because it's my journey makes it special enough! I practiced a little in the mirror today and I'm going to keep working on it

This was interesting...so after I practiced in front of the mirror and Angelica my I-story went something like this:

Hi all! My name is Eunice and before Mary Kay I was Eunice...pause for quizzical looks and possible laughter...I joined Mary Kay as a favor to a friend, no really! I had no idea of what I was really getting into. I hadn't quite grasped the concept of what Mary Kay was. Now 2 years into it I had my AHA! I feed off of the satisfied and pleasant disbelief in the faces of the women I facial. Talk about a drive! I love it I love it I love it! They feel so good about themselves and that makes me feel great! Now add to that the opportunity to make some crazy money and to share this incredible opportunity with others, I was like whoa. Let's get this party started! I love the meetings, the support, my new friends, the money, the recognition, the prizes...and how God is so evident in every part of this business. So why did I join Mary Kay? I joined because even though I didn't know why at the time God knew it would bring me out of my confinement and use me to bring out the beauty from within one woman at a time.

#13-I must be a slow learner :). I am finally getting it. Using the same script and memorizing it is so important. This goes for everything in my business. Warm Chatter, "I Story", "Skin Care Class", "Bookings", "Recruiting", etc. I want to provide excellence in all I do and I don't want it to be about me. I have a lot of work to do.

I have used the same "I Story" since starting my business. Today when I read it, I realized it needs to be changed. However, I am going to wait until I can tell about all the wonderful Star Prizes that I have earned and the use of a MK Car.
I can't wait to add to my "I Story"

I still have not been able to name my phone. I think "MDM" (million dollar momma) would be a great place to start.

I'm not one to re invent the wheel sooo... I want 100 customers! I can so do 2 new customers a week :) I just booked my second party for this week! Love my sis! My phone's name is Angelica (which is my Power Partners name) I was sharing with my sis that I was struggling in naming my phone and I kind of gave her the rundown on the Pace Setter challenge so she says, "name her Angelica" I was like huh? So she says,"ya, if the plan is to get comfortable with your phone and making calls and losing the fear name your phone after your best friend, someone you are already close to and comfortable with." Genius. I shed a tear. As if that wasn't perfect enough Angelica is also my Power Partner in the 30 day sprint! And yes, she is a Mary Kay Consultant and she'll be here for Career Conference! I can't wait! (she lives in San Diego so I don't get to see her much). I can hardly wait to see what's in store for Angelica and me!

#12-This has been very hard for me to put into a plan because everything is variables, not absolutes. I know that I want to build my customer base quickly and yet provide excellent customer service.

I would like my customer base to be 100 customers within 3 months. I would need to add 60 customers, which makes it 20 monthly, or 5 new customers weekly. Now when I break it down, it sounds so manageable.

I want these customers to only be counted when they at least purchase the basic set from me. Building basics is my focus.

I look forward to moving forward and will journal about it.

I don't know why I've always thought that follow-up calls were just pestering calls? Must be my fear factor. I know that I have always appreciated getting them! But I have neglected this area by being very inconsistant. I feel very badly about this! So today, a new beginning . . .

It was nice to pick up the phone and just do what I'm suppose to be doing - and really mean it from my heart! "Hey, how are you doing today and how is your skin feeling? Is there anything I can help you with?" Now how is that pestering?

I got an immediate call back from 1 and a reorder from another! Happy, happy happy girl :)

I love the idea of sending cards and can't believe I haven't already started. We don't get much mail in our boxes anymore do we? I put notes in their bags, but a quick little follow-up is essential too!

There were so many other terrific examples and ideas for contacting our customers and new prospectives too. I can not wait to start them this week!

Thanks for so many new tools for my Pink Tool Box!

Did my follow ups and that resulted in 2 bookings:) I also called one customer and told her about the PCP mailing and she informed me of her address change and was super sad that she wouldn't get the Look Book with the samples. I made a sale today so I'm going to be sure to bring her a hand written note tomorrow. I also sent a couple ecards to customers who had asked about products for specific needs. I discovered they had ecards we can send for alot of different products that have simple and to the point info, pics, and sometimes videos! My customer service experience that I enjoyed most was when I did some major shopping at BCBG and they asked me to leave my address so they could let me know about sales. About a week later I got a pretty long hand written note from the sales associate who had helped me that day. I felt like VIP! She would also call me for special sales and I loved it! I never once felt like she was being pushy.

#11-I thought that this would be a difficult assignment until I tackled it.

Contacted 5 PCP Customers to let them know that they will be receiving their Look Book on March 19, 2010 and to watch for it. I then asked them how they were doing with their products and if they had any questions or concerns about their products or were they in need of ordering any additional product. Several were phone messages.

I then made a list of my most recent customers and contacted them to see how their products were working for them and to see if we could schedule a follow-up color appointment.

I had two customers who purchased product from me sometime ago, but had not started using the products (they were using up their current product). Today when I contacted them, they both shared with me that they absolutely love the product and I was able to answer some of their questions and possibly have a re-order from one.

It felt good to be providing excellent customer service. It is good to be moving forward.

I then journaled about the positive feelings of accomplishment I felt. It is good to do what we know to do. Thank you.

Also, I decided to contact the two consultants under me and let them know if they ever need any help or have questions or concerns about product or services, I would be glad to help them.

My dream list began in early 2009 with a prayer, Lord please help me find my way, I keep doing the same things over and over again and feel so stuck. My dreams then turned into life changing goals by the end of the year. I decided to stop only wishing and take action, to use the strengths and talents that God has so graciously given to me.

When I was looking at my list - I realized that its not the things I desire to pocess, but the things I desire to do like create freely, spend time with family and friends, choose my hours of work, motivate and lead others, experience other cultures through travels, on and on. I realized I love movement and change - even though it's scary and takes courage to keep doing! But God would not put these desires or curiosities in us if they were not meant to be sought out.

I love to dream, but love having His plan to make them become my reality even better!

My biggest dream is to be a National Sales Director. The time and the money that would come from that would allow me to to go and do things with people that I care about. It would also allow me to make a difference in the lives of the kids I see every day at the high school where I work. It would allow us to do the "extras" in life. My list is started. The "Go Ahead & Dream" article is going to be part of my prayer time over the next few days. 6 most important things - done. Weekly plan sheet filled in with commitments for the rest of the week.
