Why you should listen to her:

Amy Cuddy wasnt supposed to become a successful scientist. In fact, she wasnt even supposed to finish her undergraduate degree. Early in her college career, Cuddy suffered a severe head injury in a car accident, and doctors said she would struggle to fully regain her mental capacity and finish her undergraduate degree.

But she proved them wrong. Today, Cuddy is a professor and researcher at Harvard Business School, where she studies how nonverbal behavior and snap judgments affect people from the classroom to the boardroom. And her training as a classical dancer (another skill she regained after her injury) is evident in her fascinating work on "power posing" -- how your body position influences others and even your own brain.

"Using a few simple tweaks to body language, Harvard researcher Amy Cuddy discovers ways to help people become more powerful."

"I've always believed that women could be successful and feminine at the same time.  Our Company began when women had begun to lose faith in their ability -- or didn't have any -- and so they decided that the only people that were successful were men.  And I just thought they were on the wrong track."
Mary Kay Ash

"We are women first and successful second.  I think that being female at all times is a tremendous advantage in a man's world, and I think it is terribly important that we are careful not to form the habit of tuning out our sensitivities."
Mary Kay Ash

A Consultant had taken a day off from her Mary Kay business and was dressed scruffily, with her hair in rollers.  Glancing out her window, She saw a van blocking her driveway.  Incensed, she flew to the door and told the driver to move it immediately.  About an hour later, all dressed up to go to a Team Building Appointment, she was backing her Malibu out of the driveway and noticed the driver standing on the sidewalk.  A little embarrassed, she smiled and nodded hello.  "Ma'am," he said, "I hope your grandmother is only visiting.  She is one tough old cookie.

the other day,....... I was visiting with the Welcome Wagon Rep for our area & she told me she has several clients to represent who are Mary Kay Ladies!
She said & I quote: "There is truly something special about you Mary Kay ladies!  I work with so very many companies, including other direct sales businesses, & NO ONE has the Passion & Culture you all so deeply share!  It is definitely so much more than just selling your products or building your teams! You seem to be so much more fullfilled with your work than that!  It has a spiritual nature! AND You are always so put together so well & looking smart!"

You can imagine my beaming with pride I am sure!!!

Have a beautiful & blessed day!!!

I have been in Mary Kay 35 years.  I think I have never left the house in 35 years without  being dressed and someone ALWAYS compliments me.  I always wear hose.  By choice.  Im more comfortable in hose.

Story:  Some years ago Maxine Sandvig (she was my NSD when I joined) was traveling with Mary Kay.  Maxine said they finally got on board the plane and sat down and Maxine slipped her shoes off.  Mary Kay looked down and said,  Sweetheart,  someone may recognize us.  (meaning, put your shoes back on).  Maxine  said she didnt take them off again.  Mary Kay was VERY interested in the appearance of ANYONE who represented Mary Kay.

Story:  One day in a hotel elevator (I was attending a Mary Kay function) a man said to me.  You must be a Mary Kay lady.  I said someth! ing inane about recognizing us because of all the beautiful jewelry we wore.  He said, No, I cant put my finger on it but you are just different in the way you look, act and the way you react to everyone.

Kim Kolling Donovan I had a similar story... I was in the grocery store after church. I had my Mary Kay face on but was not in a skirt and wasn't wearing my pin. A young man in his early twenties was stocking the shelf. He said to me "you must be a Mary Kay person". I said why do you say that? He said "you just have that look, you always look great" :)

Project a Professional Image
People judge you by your appearance. Whether youre selling a product, applying for a job or vying for a promotion, they appraise not only your grooming but the air of confidence you project, which is a reflection of how you feel about yourself. There is certainly more to a person than appearance. But you still only get one chance to make a good first impression.  Mary Kay Ash

Look Your Best

In honor of Mary Kay Ash who always believed that a dress or skirt and appropriate hosiery would project the professional image appropriate for an Independent Beauty Consultant, Mary Kay independent sales force members who wish to participate in onstage recognition at Company sponsored events should wear a dress or skirt and appropriate hosiery when receiving on-stage recognition. Independent sales force members who are not dressed as requested will not be allowed to appear on stage. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.

See these tips for maintaining the Mary Kay image at Seminar!
