Let me share with you my perspective on Interviews. 

 

1)  Do NOT prejudge who you will share the Mary Kay information with .... just last month one of my Directors had recruited 3 women from the same Mary Kay event.  Recently I asked her about each of the 3 new personals.  The one "most UNlikely to succeed" .... the one we "never thought would be interested" .... is the ONE who is doing well while the others are trying to GET started.  I don't know what it is about us - we tend to look on the OUTSIDE of the package and judge the contents ?!  I don't know when I will ever learn the lesson COMPLETELY about not prejudging WHO we think can do this and who we think might not be so good - we are RARELY right !  (At least I'm not most of the time!) A great lesson to remember is what Mary Kay Ash always taught us:  "Use the 3-foot Rule!"  Anyone who comes within 3 feet of you ... ask them about Mary Kay ! 

 

2)  You can do a 5-minute sound bite (infomercial)  on WHY you believe Mary Kay would be a perfect "fit" for every person . and you can do it during a facial, double-facial, class or larger group presentation !

 

Some of the points and sizzling selling lines you might use are:

 

.  Mary Kay is the best-selling brand of skin care and color cosmetics in the U.S. 11 out of the last 12 years ... it IS the most preferred brand of skin care in the United States !!!!!  How fun is it to represent the BEST as a beauty consultant with Mary Kay !!!!!  Why not avail yourself of that #1 product for personal use as well as gift-giving for ALL occasions ?  What a savings that is for that reason alone and how convenient to be able to get it from your own stock at home !

 

.  Mary Kay is the premier opportunity for women today in the United States and we're also sharing Mary Kay globally in 36 foreign markets .... isn't that exciting to know that some women that decide to become Sales Directors can build international businesses if they choose to - wow - and they don't need an international business degree to do it, either ... it is packed inside their Mary Kay showcase !!!!!  If you like to travel .... you have that opportunity in a Mary Kay business !

 

.  Mary Kay established the Mary Kay Ash Charitable Foundation to help women by supporting research of cancers affecting women as well as supporting them in domestic violence issues through local shelters throughout the United States.  I'm so proud to be a part of a company that NOT only sells products; but helps to enrich womens' lives in such positive ways through our Foundation.

 

.  Mary Kay donated a Million Dollar Grant to the Johns Hopkins University for "alternatives to animal testing."  We do not test on animals .... rather we test products on our Sales Force members who want to be part of product preview panel and a new product launch ! 

 

.  Mary Kay is one of the only companies that has a refillable compact system .... which makes our company environmentally conscientious as well as making our color products affordable for our customers by having "refill trays" of shadow and eye colors available !

.  When you decide to become a Mary Kay consultant ... you join a Mary Kay family that is like Triple A across the U.S.A. of women who understand what it means to have a positive attitude - what an incredible feeling to know that you have a support system IF you wanted to plug into weekly success meetings !  I've learned that you become "like the people you associate with!"  Mary Kay can be such a positive influence for women today !

 

.  It's wonderful to know that we are a company of options!  We have NO quotas, NO territories, NO ceilings, and NO competing with anyone else for a prize or a car !  EVERYONE who does the same work ... receives the SAME prize !  It's never the 1st or the fastest ... but all are treated equal and when you do the work to earn the Pontiac Vibe or Grand Prix or Pink Cadillac - YOU EARN it based on what YOU did ... not on whether someone else thinks it's time for you to earn it ! 

 

.  When you become a Mary Kay consultant ... the product gets "REordered" .... again and again and A G A I N  because it's consumable !  Women use it up and reorder it over and over from you !  The company continually provides us with "state-of-the-art" and leading-edge products that we can go back to our client base and share with them NEW products every quarter !   The most interesting thing I've observed about my customers is that there is NEVER a time when they call me up and say they DON'T need cosmetics any more !  It just doesn't happen !  Cosmetics rank right up there with oxygen ... a REAL TRUE necessity for living  - not in the "luxury" category !  It's the DAILY NEEDS category !  

 

.  We're in a recession proof business - it doesn't matter what is happening with the price of oil, gas or steel !  It does NOT affect the sale of our cosmetics !  When there is a recession or a depression; 3 markets never fail:  alcohol, tobacco and personal care products (cosmetics) !  

 

3)  You can DO interviews right after or during your appointments - over the phone - drop off literature, a CD or tape or a video or DVD !  It really is your choice !  But when you LEARN some of the sizzling selling lines listed above .... you just may hit her HOT BUTTON of interest !    

 

4)  Invite her to be your "special guest" at the next Mary Kay event ... or meet you (and your Director if it works out) for coffee !  IF meeting in person is impossible - you can arrange a 3-way call with your Director !  It really takes NO more than 20 minutes to share the Mary Kay facts with your prospective team member !

 

5)  FOLLOW UP with 24-48 hours if she doesn't make a decision on-the-spot !  You may just ask her WHAT questions she needs answered to make a decision IF this is something she wants to try !  I usually say - "Suzy....what I've found is that when I give a woman 2 weeks to think about her decision .... she usually takes 2 weeks !  When I give her 24 hours .... she makes the same decision but doesn't have the FEAR dominating her thoughts!"

 

 So - let me help you make the decision by asking you what questions I can answer for you that will help you make a decision freeing you from worrying about the "what if's !"  The best thing that can happen is you DECIDE to try Mary Kay and are using the best-selling brand of skin care on the market yourself and giving wonderful gifts to your friends for all occasions - and perhaps building a customer base while doing life !  The worst thing that can happen is you NEVER give it a try and always wonder "what IF" I had tried it .... what would've happened !   It's a $ 100 decision to try this ... You can go to the grocery store or Wal-Mart and spend $ 100 today and it won't CHANGE your STANDARD of LIVING ... but $ 100 in Mary Kay could CHANGE your LIFE !
