It's great information on how to sell to brides and bridal parties!! 


First of all, I would tell you that you want to schedule bridal classes BEFORE the day of the wedding -- NOT the wedding day.  Otherwise, you will  get yourself in a situation of being caught up in the hectic activities of  the wedding day, and it's nearly impossible to please them on that day!

So just tell the bride you would be glad to get with her to pick out colors (don't forget nail colors, too) that would match the bridesmaid dresses and would then be glad to facial her attendants (I have found that recommending this be done when the bridesmaids are getting together to make rice bags or
whatever is a good time) to make recommendations for the wedding day.


The following is what I use for these specialty classes

How can I soften and smooth body skin?   I advise that you immediately begin a three-step body care routine -- buffing, to exfoliate dead skin cells; cleansing, to gently wash away dirt and impurities; and moisturizing, to help maintain skin's moisture balance. On the evening before the wedding, relax in a pampering bubble bath of scented gel, then apply body lotion in the same
scent while skin is still damp. You may also want to apply Sunless Tanning Lotion to add color, but be sure to start this process at least 2 weeks before the wedding day.


What makeup shades -- and application techinques -- will guarantee tear-proof, kiss-proof results on the wedding day? On the morning of the big wedding, I suggest the following:


Mask: Pamper yourself to a masking session to give your skin a smooth, radiant glow.

Concealer: Apply a little full coverage concealer under the eyes and on any imperfections after foundation.

Glamour makeup: The key to wedding day glamour makeup is for it to enhance without looking heavy or overdone.

Remind the bridal party that 'this is the bride's day' and that they should not be the ones trying to stand out -- they should wear glamour colors that blend with the bridesmaid gown. Remind the bride that she is going to be in white, and that extra color will be needed for her not to appear washed out.

Also, one predominant area should stand out on her facial features, usually the lips -- and that she doesn't want to thus wear 'bold' eye colors (that may not be in style 3 years from now) -- and that her 'rosy cheeks' should appear to have a natural glow, not an 'embarassed look!'

Blusher: You will need a little more blusher than normal for the photography.

Eyes: Soft, smoky eye colors will make the eyes stand out without overshadowing the whole look. Crystalline, Taupe, and Hazelnut (for light haired individuals) and / or Gray Flannel (for dark haried individuals) should be blended well.

Eye liner: If you choose to line with a pencil, the line should not be heavy -- it needs to be soft and 'smudged'.  The Hazelnut/ Gray Flannel eye shadow may be applied wet along the lashes instead of a pencil to achieve a softer effect.

Mascara: Always apply two coats of mascara -- waterproof, of course, letting the first coat dry thoroughly before applying the second coat.  Also, use a 'minking' technique, where you apply brown mascara close to the lashline, and tip with black mascara.

Lips: Go more intense on the lips (remember? one facial feature should stand out?) because the photography can lose the color. Apply lip liner along the natural lipline, and use the pencil to fill in the lips, providing a long-wearing base coat of color.

Nails: Bridesmaids can wear a coordinating nail color with their dresses, or just a natural look (such as natural pink or moonlight). However, the bride should not wear a nail color.... her nails should look natural, with either the satin finish protector or the clear protector."


NOW..... who do you know that is getting married in the next few weeks?

Call her up and offer your services.  She may not have even thought of a glamour session for her, the bridesmaids, and the mothers of the brides as being important -- until the day of the wedding when she sees that everyone was not "color conscious" and don't look good in their gowns! And then it's too late!

So just let her know you are trained in this area.  Also, I would suggest that you have a filled glamour compact with the colors you are recommending to show at that class.  "What the eye sees, the eye buys!"
