makeover for the morning bride
spring is here and l-o-v-e is in the air! ahhhhh - the season of brides! maybe you are getting married yourself...or perhaps you have a client who is. don't let that special day be frozen in time with the wrong look! here are my top 5 tips that every early morning bride (or early morning bride makeup consultant) needs to know! top 5 tips for the early morning bride:
1. your makeup look should be soft and pretty to match the cool, soft morning light (even if you are getting married inside, most photographers like to take it outside to get some photos).
2. if your skin tends to break out, do not choose this time of day for your wedding because you are going to want to wear as little foundation and concealer as possible (again, due to the soft, natural light).
3. make sure to define your eyes really well at the lashline to help them stand out.
4. lip color should always be soft and natural - nothing too bold at this time of day (if it is too bold, your lip color will be all you see in your photos).
5. everything will photograph darker than it appears to the eye because the light is so soft; therefore, go with softer shade choices.
makeover for the midday bride
let's face it. we spend a ton of time picking out the perfect wedding dress and planning the perfect day. but! more often than not how to apply makeup is overlooked! the important thing to remember is: 15 years from now the dress might not fit, but the photos will remain forever! top 5 tips for the midday bride:
1. do not wear foundation with a sheen of dewiness to it. if there is any sheen to the face, it will look too shiny and reflective in the photographs.
2. this is a time when you will want to wear the least amount of foundation possible, because it will show the most. a lightweight foundation and a matte powder finish will photograph beautifully.
3. make sure your blush has a more matte finish as well. if it has too much shimmer it will also look too shiny in the photos.
4. if you want to wear eyeliner, keep it as close to the lashline as possible. if it is too thick it could darken the lid more than you want, creating the dreaded "black hole effect."
5. since the sunlight grows stronger as midday approaches, every makeup line becomes more visible. make sure to blend your foundation, blush, eyeshadow, and powder very well. at this time of day, there is no such thing as overblending!!!
makeover for the evening bride
we've made it to the third and final makeover in our online bridal video series: evening bride. 5 top tips for the evening bride:
1. if you have less than perfect skin, this is a great time for you! you can wear more foundation and powder and still look natural!
2. bronzer, bronzer, bronzer! make sure to bronze generously to give your skin a glow. every time you are photographed in the evening your photographer will be using a flash...which means your skin will look washed out if you don't add a beautiful bronzy glow!
3. define everything! from your lips to your eyes to your cheekbones. however! more defined does not mean darker! example: some women do not need to wear blush on a daily basis, but you need at least a little color on your cheeks because of the flash!
4. a shimmery eyeshadow will photograph beautifully for the evening...but do NOT wear a frosted shadow. frosted eyeshadow looks too shiny in photos...so...avoid!
5. if you love a smoky eye (and do not have deep set eyes), evening is a perfect time to wear one! don't know how to do one? your in luck - read on!
