I just got back from dinner at my daughter's with my grandchildren. They wanted me to play a new board game. Instinctively, I was ill at ease because I didn't know the rules or how to play the game. As I drove home I realized this is how our hostesses feel. AND it is how YOU feel when you find yourself in a new or unknown situation.

Sooo the aim of Coaching, any coaching, is to help the person being coached feel secure and confident with whatever they are or will be doing. Please remember, a confused mind does nothing.

1) Tell them the rules -- what is expected of them
2) Tell them what's in it for them -- get them excited about being a winner!
3) Tell them how to do the task -- don't assume they know how to invite guests or when for what to serve as refreshments (I remember 30 years ago having a class, uncoached of course, and the hostess served a buffet dinner. Now who would want to follow that? Obviously, there weren't any additional bookings)

Give your hostess the new Hostess Brochure (#000266 $2.50 for a pack of 10). Include the Hostess Gift flyer (#002318 10 for $1.00) Order at least one pair of the Hostess Gift "Dazzling Diva" sunglasses in pink, leopard print case (#002203 for $10). While a picture may be worth a 1000 words -- the real thing can't be beat! SEEING IS BELIEVING!!

It is important to inspect what you expect! Coach when you book the class. Coach when you call to get the Guest List. Coach when you arrive early at the class. A class worth booking is a class worth coaching thoroughly. No hostess wants to fail any more than you do. Plan your work and work your plan -- that goes for hostesses as well. Don't just hand them the Hostess Brochure -- go over it with her. It is designed to help you both have a successful partnership.
