I had heard of this idea a dozen places, Quarterly Awards, Unit Meetings, Workshops, and I had never put it to use.  The telephone is not my bag.  But I want to be a STAR every quarter so bad I can taste it, so I DECIDED (thats what every success comes down to deciding) that if I am going to be an all-star it is up to me, it wont just happen, I have to do something to make it happen.  This is what I did.

Get your Preferred Customer List.

Start with your Class A clients (I highlight them with Green for $$$$ so they are easy to find). 

Set a timer for two hours (the time it takes to teach a class). 

Pinch yourself or jump up and down or do whatever it takes to get you excited then talk fast and smile!... I NEVER sit down standing makes me talk faster!

Hi, Joan, this is Lynn Gleason with Mary Kay, can I have just a second?  Im in a contest (remember your star consultant contest?), and I need to get 20 orders by 5 oclock.  At 5 Ill pull out one persons name that ordered and give them their ENTIRE order free for helping me!  Is there ANYTHING youve been thinking about getting or are running low on that you would like to take a chance at getting FREE? When you have 20 orders you can stop, when you run out of names you can stop, when the timer goes off you can stop.

Write phone-a-thon next to the names you spoke with so youll know who you can call next time.

The first time I used this in 1984 I reached 16 clients, 9 ordered, $170.50 (average $18.94) I gave away an Oil Control Lotion ($8 cost) and I booked one interview.  The second week I reached 17 clients, 12 ordered, $192.50 (averaged $16.04), I gave away a lipstick ($4 cost) and I booked one glamour class. 

In 1998 when I was finishing up my second car as a Consultant.  I was $300 short on production.  And I made a promise to myself after being debt free for seven years, that I would never order product if I didn't have the money to pay for it.  My mother was visiting, and I told her my dilemma, since I had already placed my order for the month, and my 60% account was drained.  She said, "Well, you always tell me to get on the phone!"  So guess what I did?!!  You're right! And I was able to place another order, and pick up delivery of my SECOND Grand Achiever Car proud that we had done it the Mary Kay way!!

Just think when you do get 20 orders, if you average just $15 thats $300 a Sapphire Star Week!

No postage, no planning, no preparing!
