Postponements & Cancellations, A Class that postponed three times!

This is such good training - on dealing with your attitude when you get postponements.  Sue. Thanks Mary Pat for forwarding it. 

RE: Postponements & Cancellations  ...  Helen McVoy my NSD always told me there is no such word as cancellation even if it an indefinite postponement!!!  Wow was she positive. One other thing I think is vital.  There are legitimate reasons for postponements.  Have you ever called to postpone something and the person at the other end makes you feel horrible.  What are the chances of you rebooking unless it is vital you see that person.  With a makeover it may be wanted but not vital.  When the person feels guilty for postponing chances are they will never rebook if you sound disappointed.  They don't want to disappoint you so they just don't rebook.  But if you say, "GREAT, I had a busy week anyway.  I assume Thurs is best for you.  The first Thursday I have open is ________Is that a good time for you??  The same time Jane.  Okay I'll see you then.  Thanks for calling."  I always sign, Warmly, Sheron  You can use those words for a note or postcard too. Helen always taught me to book 2 to hold 1 so I just used postponement time for servicing my customers.  Also I never called for a reorder.  I always called to invite my customers to an event or success meeting.  I always said, I would be so proud to introduce you as one of my special clients.  Then I'd add, "By the way,   are you getting low on any of your products?"  or "It has been a while since we got together.  I have so many fantastic new products.  It would be so much fun to get together with you and show you what's new."  Then of course when they said yes, I'd say maybe a couple of your friends would love to see the new products too.  If you have 2 friends there to share, I'll give you a nice discount."  The discount was hostess credit.  If her friends bought 100 I'd give her 10 in free product 15 if one booked a class, 20 if 2 do.  Hugs,  Sheron Flester NSD


Subject: Booking-Postponements and Cancellations  This message came in today.  Meredith Richardson received it from Gloria Mayfield Banks and sent it along to me.  it is so easy for us to get discouraged when we have postponements and cancellations. That is why it is so important to overbook and double book.  Never leave an appointment without a booking.  Is it worth it?  You bet!  Meredith also mentioned that she had just had a $7,000 week!  That's just selling her product.  She said she had to order 3 times that week just to keep up.  Isn't that exciting?  isn't  that worth a few "no's"?  I wonder how many "no's" she has had in her 18 year career??   Shared by incredible Director Tammy Crayk:

People really frustrate me!  I had a facial booked for last night at 8:30. I agreed to do it that late because  she really wanted to do it.  She never came home!  It was o.k though because I had another facial this  morning at 10:00.  She called and cancelled!  It's hard not to get frustrated with people.  Oh well!  I'm still  going to take Kaylee to the sitters and do some things this morning.  I'm going to check back with the  bridal shoppe here in town.  I'm also going to take the pre-approved ads and  get the wedding one made  up.  I'll place it at the portrait studio.  I'm also going to get at least 2 surveys done this morning.  Hope  you have a great day.  I'm determined to make mine wonderful!!!!  Heather

 MY RESPONSE...... Great ATTITUDE to make it a great day anyway!!!  Yes, postponements and

 cancellations are VERY  FRUSTRATING!!  But....a never-ending part of this business and all other businesses that deal with scheduling people for appts.  Did you call these gals back and reschedule them??  DO IT EVEN IF YOU DON'T WANT TO!!!

HOLD CLASSES AND YOUR DREAMS  WILL COME TRUE 

Twenty two years ago, a teacher in St. Paul. MN held a skin care class that was postponed THREE  TIMES. At that class, she met a shotgun shell packer who became a consultant. That shell packer also recruited a  homemaker and mother of four who was a former nurse. That nurse touched the life of a former nursing  classmate and she also joined Mary Kay. This nurse also met a poor mother of two who had to save for  three weeks to buy her showcase.  All of these women became National Sales Directors! All because one Mary Kay  Consultant who simply refused to allow the frustration of postponements to get to her, kept a class on her  books that had been postponed three times.  That consultant (and now NSD herself) Holly Zick, is proof that all your dreams can come true!!  READ THIS THE NEXT TIME YOU GET A POSTPONEMENT OR CANCELLATION!  You made a VERY WISE CHOICE to use that time wisely, keep your sitter, and make the time you had  allotted work for you!!  My hat is off to you today, Heather, for not giving into the frustration.  If you do.....flaky people win!!  Love, Belief, and total respect for your CHOICES today......
